in Dublin, Irland geboren. An katholischen Schulen und am University College
von Dublin erzogen, ging er im Jahre 1902 nach Paris um dort Medizin zu studieren.
Er kehrte jedoch nach Dublin zur�ck, ver�ffentlichte dort einige Werke, wovon
er ungl�cklicherweise nicht leben konnte und verlie� Dublin 1910.
1915 ging er nach Z�rich um dort eine Schauspielgruppe zu gr�nden, lie� sich
dann von 1920 bis 1940 in Paris nieder, wo er 1941 verstarb.
Obwohl James Joyce die meiste Zeit auf dem Kontinent und nicht in seinem
Heimatland verbrachte, hatte er eine intensive und enge Bindung an dieses
Land, insbesondere an seine Geburtsstadt Dublin. Dies zeigt sich in fast all
seinen Werken, so z.B. in „Dubliners“ (entstanden 1904 – 1912, erschienen
1914). In diesem 15-teiligen Kurzgeschichten – Zyklus wird das Dubliner Milieu,
dem Joyce entstammt – also kleines bis mittleres B�rgertum – mit einer ganz
besonderen „Hassliebe“1 beschrieben. Alles kreist um die f�r das Milieu typischen
Charaktere und Situationen.
1916 erschien „The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man“, welches autobiographische
Z�ge aufweist. Es ist die Geschichte des jungen Stephen Dedalus,
der sich gegen die katholische Kirche, die irische h�here Gesellschaft und den
irischen Patriotismus auflehnt.
Das wohl bekannteste Werk von James Joyce d�rfte jedoch wohl „Ulysess“ sein,
welches oftmals als sein Meisterwerk bezeichnet wird. Es erschien 1922 und
beeinflusste fast alle modernen englischen und amerikanischen Autoren. Peter
Wagner beschreibt es in seinem Buch „A short history of English and American
Literature“ folgendermassen:
„Ulysess is a supreme novel because it combines stylistic artistry
and virtuosity, complicated yet convincing narrative techniques
(stream – of – conciousness, realistic description, association, musical
patterns such as leitmotiv, and montage as used in films), sophisitcated
charaterization, and earthy humour in a panorama of
life and human conciousness.“2

Highly recommend for anyone.

Just what i needed, my son is always asking mom what does that mean mom what does that mean. We would break out regular dictionary but it was no the same. This one explains it as needed to the context of your reading.. As in this case we are reading the Bible so we want to know the definition to relate to our reading. Not a stuffy definition that usually makes my sons face go blank and leaves him more confused then when we started.

I was a little skeptical since it doesnt look like the original Zondervans, but it has the same content. I compared it to an old copy and all was the same, so its perfect. This is the only bible dictionary to use.

THis is a GREAT story!

I really enjoyed this story. It's an awesome world where nudism isn't confined to resorts or beaches. Once you register you can legally go nude anywhere! It's a great tale. I really enjoyed it.

My mind is telling me no, but my body is telling me yes

Thisis the first eroticaI have ever read, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it seemed more than I would have expected, more like nudist fantasy. People don't think much of laws regarding nudity as we have too much shame to ever dream of violating them, but nudists find they really get in their way. Every nudist has had the fantasy at leastonce that some day the laws would change and they would be free to walk around naked, and this story provides one of the likliest scenarios. There are some things that work out just too conveniently, but any story requires that to make sure the characters are in the right place at the right time, though two contrivances stand out above the rest. One is the law that if nudists want to be naked, they have to be, in reality I imagine nobody would ever be compelled to register as a nudist without being prepared to commit anyway, but by reversing nudity laws for registered nudists, you can go naked freely but you can get arrested for wearing clothes, it sets up an ENF situation. Sarah is embarrassed because she signed up for the wrong reasons and her heart isn't in it so the majority of erotic content is just watching her squirm which is amusing but it wears thin, especially since it's all from her perspective so eventually you do feel bad for her and want it to stop-unless you're a truly horrible person. However, the story is saved by the second contrivance, Sarah gets off on it in spite of herself, the more embarrasing the situation, the more excited she gets. This works on multiple levels, knowing that she is actually enjoying this relieves the reader of guilt, just when it becomes too much, she has an orgasm and breaks the tension with a smile. It's also the most interesting pieces of character development that I've ever seen. Sarah keeps telling herself in her inner monologue that she's not really a nudist, desperately clinging to ideals tha no longer apply to her new life as if this mental lifeline can tether her to her old life and she can reel herself in when it's all over. Of course, it's never going to be all over, as each day she gets pulled in deeper and deeper, but the biggest obstacle she finds is herself, particularly when she has a dream about going to school naked, but rather than the nightmare most of us are afraid of, she dreams of proudly introducing herself to her classmates wearing nothing. Still, she wakens from that dream in denial, manages to get caught up in a nudist rally and has a great time but still berates herself for being a fraud. It all leads up to the point of no return, when she realizes some things can't be undone and she can never go back to normal and finally faces the truth that after feeling like she's living a lie, the real lie is the one she's telling herself. It may seem like a spoiler, but there is simply no way to fully appreciate the conclusion unless you actually read through the story and go on this journey with her, and I highly recommend that you do. The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars is that there are some glaring typos which I try to overlook because that's not really why we're reading this, but it can be very distracting at critical moments.

I think this would make an awesome movie, particularly for Lifetime if there were any way to handle the enormous amount of censorship this would require and if there were any way to find an actress willing to put herself through this.

This book is an amazing addition to the "southern shifters series!". The story line is spellbounding!. Plus you will love the characters!. This story is about a young lioness shifter who is in hiding from her abusive ex. husband. When she left her ex. and his pride she found a way to make it on her own with Photography. One day after coming home from taking photo's she senses someone in her house. Hale Roark is a werelock and one of the best trackers in the bounty hunting business. He has been hired to bring Renae back to her ex. Hale is sitting in Renae's living room waiting for her. After Renae senses him she takes off in the woods behind her house. Hale spots her and chases her down. By the time he catches her she has turned into her lioness. Hale finds out two things first she is a familiar to his warlock self plus she is mate to his animal self. Now he is determined not to let her ex. have her!. Can Hale protect Renae from her ex.?. You will love this super amazing five star Plus book!. This is a must read book!.

A New type of magic is in the air!!!! Werelock!!!

This is a novella, for those that don't get it it means it's shorter than a regular book or novel. Things have to go faster but still make sense and be part of the theme for the story!
I think Mina Carter did a wonderful job and loved how she let Renae be a strong woman, and Hale be a bada#$ but still needed her help!!
When the warlocks put a big sleeping spell on them near the end , so they could capture Hale and Renae, it was Renae's lioness that went in to draw out Hale's real lion that he had never been able to connect with, because he had pushed it down for so long!!!
Loved that he was able to connect to it at long last and it helped him and his magic save the day and heal Renae's lioness so she could have the satisfaction of dealing with Lance, her ex.
Really loved this story and think it was Great!!
Shifter lovers will get it and understand how it plays out and love it!! It wasn't filled with nothing but sex scenes, but had some that needed to show how the main characters feel about each other....remember....mates know almost at first sight that they are meant to be together so yes that means the sex can be fast and furious....lolol.
Another great read by Mina Carter, just hope the rest are as good!!

Wow...I like Mina's work and this book did NOT disappoint!!

This is part of a Kindle World storyline so some of the background on the town is explained in the original series by Ms. Gayle. While you don't have to read them to understand everything - it helps.

In this book - our Lioness is making her own way without any ex-husband/Alpha telling her what to do and when. BUT...he is still trying to take her down. Wow...some of the fighters that he sends...that's impressive! But it really leaves you with the question, why does he want her returned so badly?? Gotta read the story to find out!

Also in this book - our Hero has some Shifter blood in him but he is not able to shift...why? Ohhh...that makes sense now! I can totally understand why he doesn't shift and why it took so long for him to find his familiar. Cute!! I don't understand why Mina has his character a Big Bad Hero personality who is able to think on his feet but he gets caught so easy! They knew that they were being chased...why didn't he put up a ward around the house?

Same material different edition

I have the 4th edition and I actually compared it to the 5th edition. My findings after comparing the table of contents then actually going to the university bookstore, I found the 5th edition has less pages due to the authors combining a few of the chapters. All of the chapters of 4th edition are pretty much the same, just moved up, down or combined, to make the 5th edition. Saved myself a lot of money. Purchase the 5th edition if you don't feel like comparing the two books or that's just your choice. I listed the comparison below for your follow-up review, I hope it helps.

About the Author
Vasant Lad, Ayurvedic Physician, brings a wealth of classroom and practical experience to the United States. He received the degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pune, in Pune, India in 1968 and a Master of Ayurvedic Science from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya in Pune, India in 1980. For 3 years, Dr. Lad served as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune. He also held the position of Professor of Clinical Medicine for seven years at the Pune University College of Ayurvedic Medicine, where he was an instructor for many years. Dr. Lad's academic and practical training includes the study of allopathic medicine (Western Medicine) and surgery as well as traditional Ayurveda. In 1979, he began traveling throughout the United States sharing his knowledge of Ayurveda, and in 1981, he returned to New Mexico to teach Ayurveda. Dr. Lad founded and has served as the Director of The Ayurvedic Institute since 1984.

Anisha Durve is an Acupuncture Physician, Ayurvedic practitioner and Yoga therapist practicing in Florida. She completed her three year clinical training in acupuncture at the Southwest College of Acupuncture in Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduating in 2000 with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine degree. Afterwards, she completed a clinical internship at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China. Anisha spent four years training under Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico as well as his clinic in Pune, India. She received additional training in panchakarma at the Indus Valley Ayurvedic Center in Mysore, India. To deepen her studies in yoga, she trained at the Vivekananda Yoga Kendra in Bangalore, India and is a certified relax and renew instructor. Anisha is enthusiastic about teaching workshops on marma therapy for acupuncturists, Ayurvedic practitioners, yoga teachers and massage therapists around the country.

Simply the Best

I've read many (good) books on Marma Chikitsa, from western and Indian authors. But I always felt that something was missing. This book from Dr. Lad is simply the best and most complete book. It brings a comprehensive description of 117 points (more than all other books), and a very interesting correlation with acupoint. It is certainly an essential book for those who want deeper studies on Ayurveda.
