Excellent book for OMFS

As an OMFS resident I found this book an excellent read. Includes clear pictures and descriptions involving implant placement and bone grafting in any challenging scenario that a specialist will face. Dr. Block goes into great detail, something I think most would agree is key for successful implant placement. A much better choice read for the advanced surgeon than Misch IMO.

Airmanship may be one of the most mysterious word in aviation. Often uttered but may not be thoroughly understood. Airmanship and Situational Awareness may be the two most discussed topics in aviation teaching.

As the title may have suggested, this is an effort to redefine airmanship. Bringing a new perspective to the topic. Though may not be fundamental nor revolutionary in its discussion, However it does offer a great read to those aviators who have passed the initial phase of training and is developing a maturity to the overall management of the cockpit and on the road to becoming a better aviator. This title is more of a journey on a different path rather than an answer by itself

A Must-Read for Pilots

How important is this book? It is as important for pilots to read and re-read as Wolfgang Langewiesche's "Stick & Rudder". Than this, there is no higher praise.
Dr. Kern proposes herein a simple but profound model to help us understand airmanship and he proceeds to support, explicate and instantiate that model using clear and well-chosen case material.
This is good stuff! The author draws on his own experience as an Air Force pilot and on his academic background as a human factors expert to summarize elegantly a vast area of knowledge vital to every aviator -- whether military, commercial or GA. As an instrument rated private pilot, I found all of the material in this book very relevent to the issues I deal with when I fly.
The way of thinking about airmanship that Dr. Kern lays out is important to all pilots -- but I believe that it is overwhelmingly important to pilots who are not engaged in either formal training or in the pursuit of advanced ratings. Taking this thinking to heart will keep you growing as a pilot, and will ultimately keep you alive.
For pilots embarked on a professional career path, Dr. Kern identifies goals, exposes pitfalls and outlines methods that will complement and enhance any training program and any intended progression through the ratings.

Wonderful interactive book for toddlers

I wasn't sure if my 3.5 year old daughter would look at this book for more than a few minutes, but to my delight, she has been picking it up and flipping through it herself, pulling the tabs, peeking in the mirror, and most of all, pushing the musical chip to hear the lullaby at the end. This would make a wonderful baby shower gift as well.

A wonderful baby gift or keepsake for your own family

Although I did not think that this would interest my 4 1/2 year old son, when I took it out of the box, he scrambled up beside me to look at it.

The sticker on the front says, "The ultimate Baby Gift," and I agree.

It's oversized, which makes it easy to share with a child. The interior pages are colorful and interactive:

*with a soft baby blanket and a fuzzy heart to feel
*other pop-up hearts
*a letter to take out of an envelope,
*and a musical chip to listen to.

The book ends with a mirrored insert that excites kids every time they peer in.

I like the text a lot too. It's sweet and affirming, but not overly sappy or trite.

I would think that the target audience would be around two or three years of age (and any woman filled with new-mother hormones), but judging from the reaction that my son had, it could become a traditional favorite that kids might enjoy year after year.

I got this book as a gift when my son was born and now I buy it for all my friends when they have babies! It's a beautiful book with big, bright pictures that he liked to look at even as a newborn, and the story is so beautiful I couldn't get through it without crying for months! Great gift idea!

“Selten zuvor seit der Gründung der Bundesrepublik hatten Jugendliche so viel Anlass, dem Blick auf die Realität auszuweichen.”
Und es wird kaum eine Jugendkultur geben, die diese Situation besser ausdrückt als der Punk, in der sich die Jugendlichen so exentrisch durch Kleidung und Verhalten von der Gesellschaft abgrenzten. Genau diese Kultur soll in dieser Hausarbeit untersucht werden. Zunächst gilt es zu erläutern, welche Voraussetzungen die Jugendlichen hatten, als der Punk Ende der siebziger Jahre aus Großbritannien nach Deutschland kam. Denn genau dieser Zeitraum, soll in der Arbeit näher untersucht werden, da hier der Punk aufgrund seiner Aussagen nach Deutschland kam. Im Laufe der Jahre veränderten sich teilweise grundlegende Aussagen des Punk und er zerfiel in verschiedene Gruppen, die in dieser Arbeit keine Rolle spielen sollen. Doch welche gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse erlebten die Jugendlichen und was für Zukunftsperspektiven sahen sie selber für sich als realisitisch zu der Zeit als Punk nach Deutschland kam? Denn schwierige Situationen, mit denen die Jugendlichen zu kämpfen hatten, würde die Flucht in eine Lebensalternative leichter verständlich machen. Doch was wollten Jugendliche durch diese Lebensweise ausdrücken? Ist es eine Flucht aus der gegenwärtigen Situation, lediglich eine Protesthaltung oder die Forderung nach einer Verbesserung? Um dieses festzustellen soll untersucht werden, inwiefern man Punk als politische Bewegung definieren kann und wie weit Punk geht, um eigene Ansichten zu vertreten und durchzusetzen. Dafür wird zunächst definiert, was eine politsche Bewegung überhaupt charakterisiert, um im Laufe der Arbeit bestimmte Merkmale zuordnen zu können. Interessant dabei ist die Reaktion, die Punks durch Aussagen oder Aktionen sowohl in der Politik als auch in der Gesellschaft hervorrufen, um festzustellen inwiefern sie eine Wirkung in der Öffentlichkeit erzielten. Zudem soll die Arbeit einen kurzen Einblick in die Punkszene der DDR bieten, um eventuelle Unterschiede zu verdeutlichen.

Great book

I like this book because it has clear explanations, easy to follow examples, quick review tests and answers. This book is a complete package in terms of learning data structures with Java. if you follow it from beginning to the end, do the exercises and some projects you will have a solid foundation to move to more complex topics and projects. As with any programming book, you get what you put in, so read and code. Some topics may seem too easy and there is a temptation to just skip them, resist the temptation and follow the structure. Then do some projects at the end of each section. Some readers say it's too spread out and easy, yet they fail to complete the projects. Small projects indicate how well you can apply the knowledge, so do them and maybe even expand on them and your success is guaranteed.

systematic learning

Michael Main takes a systematic approach to present a (possibly) daunting topic. As an avid reader of technical books, I have seen the full spectrum: from books that aren't worth the paper that they are printed on to books that you want to keep around because they are so good. This book definitely falls into the later category. Main has a incredible aptitude for making the abstract into the understandable. The readers comprehension of each new concept is solidified by it's methodical presentation. This book is worth every cent and more.

A very clear explanation of Java Data Structures

I have read other books on Java and data structures and so far this book seems to be the best in terms of its clarity. The author really seems to go out of his way to make the concepts clear. The figures, code samples, and even the overall structure and flow of the book help to make it a useful and helpful text.
